MFA Art Exhibit

Every year students in the Masters of Fine Arts degree at the University of Montana show off their work for the public. Larger-than-life ceramic figures by Kensuke Yamada call the Gallery of Visual Arts home for the next two weeks. UM News photographer Carmen Ebert and reporter Rose Stepanek look at how one student sculpts a new idea in his presentation.



Yamada's exhibit started December 3rd and runs through December 17th.
Gallery hours: 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday.

Griz Basketball

Jump shots and slam dunks are back in full force as the Griz basketball season kicks off. UM News photographer Daniel Ryan and reporter Rose Stepanek take a look at this years men's basketball team and some of the new faces that will be seen on the court this season.

Women's Weightlifting

As spring semester registration rolls around, students may be looking for a fun and unique way to earn a credit. One class on campus offers women a way to get in shape while getting familiar with the weight room. Reporter Rose Stepanek and photographer Carmen Ebert went to the UM Fitness and Recreation Center and found how bicep curls are for the girls.

UM belly dance teacher wins top spot

She shook and shimmied her way to the top.
UM Dance instructor Kelli Marie Neumayer was number one at Wiggles of the West belly dancing competition in Las Vegas. UM News reporter Rose Stepanek and photographer Dariga Massenova talked to Neumayer about her experience and how it can affect her teaching methods.

Wear The Bear

The Wear the Bear campaign is sweeping the state. Their slogan: "Paint Montana Maroon". They encourage students and businesses to wear maroon and silver every Friday. UM News reporter Rose Stepanek and photographer Scott Youngbauer report the campaign hopes to spread Griz spirit across the nation.
